Natural toys and materials

Children play with natural materials such as tree nuts, stones and shells. These materials help children develop their senses and foster their imagination and creativity.

Art Activities

Children enjoy wet-on-wet watercolor painting, crayon drawing and beeswax modeling. These activities help children develop their sense of color, touch, and smell and also foster their expression and creativity.

Storytelling

Folk tales and children's stories are nutrition for children's spirit. Teacher regularly tells these stories to children without a book but occasionally with hand-made puppets. Such ttorytelling helps children experiencing the wisdom behind the stories and nurture their ability of imagination and listening.

Healthy Home-Made Food

We offer home-made hot and fresh lunches cooked in our kitchen using vegetables from our kitchen garden. Children taste the fresh and natural flavor of the vegetables and learn how food is grown. We often serve traditional Japanese and seasonal dishes so that children can enjoy and appreciate different foods and learn about Japanese culture.

Nature activity

At SAKURA, children frequently play in woods and streams. Nature play allows children to learn about the natural world and develop a sense of empathy for animals and plants. It also increases childrens ability for challenge and self-control.   Nature activities also support movement and coordination, and nurture the ability to think based on their physical sensation.
